We have shipped , thank you !

After six weeks of work and donations from numerous generous people we have finally sent out our first school supply shipment to the Dominican Republic. Our shipping company, Envios Internacioal , picked up the tank with the supplies today, Saturday 9/30/11. The tank will take three to four week to arrive in the Dominican Republic at which time it will be distributed to the children of  Villa LiberaciĆ³n by our volunteers there.

The tank contains a total of thirty-one book bags. That comes out to one book bag for each child, and additional book bag with extra classroom supplies.

Each book bag for the children contains the following items:

1 notebook
1 folder
1 eraser
1 glue stick
1 pencil sharpener
1 box of crayons
6 pencils

The book bag for classroom use has the following items:

1 pack of small pencil sharpeners
1 pack of pens
1 scissor
1 calculator
1 large classroom pencil sharpener
2 packs of rulers
4 packs of color pencils
4 packs of pencils
5 packs of erasers
6 boxes of crayons

Our first project

The Dominican Republic is our first venture. The goal of this particular project is to provide school supplies to thirty school children in the town of Villa LiberaciĆ³n, Dominican Republic. The children are between the ages of 5 - 10 years old and all attend a very small school called La Ramoncita. We are looking to collect new and gently used backpacks and other supplies like:
  • Folders
  • Notebooks
  • Pencil

We are currently seeking donations of these supplies. The book bags do not have to be new, but we do ask that they be of good condition.  Once these donations have been collected, our volunteers will fill the backpacks with the supplies and prepare them for shipping.

Shipping to the Dominican Republic will take about 3 weeks through shipping container. Our volunteers in the Dominican Republic who are part of a local church group will then directly distribute the materials to the children at the school.

Lets help make a small difference in these children’s lives.
